Hello folks,

Sorry for another annoying thread but I was wondering if many of you use red moor wood?  I saw a few quite nice pieces on ebay and I was wondering if I should pick this up.

I have read some people saying this sort of wood can be a real pain at times and I thought I would see if any of you had any past experiences?

Thanks!

I have redmoor in 3 of my tanks.
I soak it in a bucket with boiling water for a few days, give it a scrub then in to the tank it goes, it can leech for a little while & you occasionally you get a jelly like fungus on it but you can scrape that off.

Thanks for the reply!

I had heard about the fungus, is that unusual for tank wood? is it regular? I presume it doesnt bother the fish?

It usually only appears on new wood & goes away on its own after a while, the shrimp seem to like it & some fish will pick at it

Well, they arrived today.  It has been a real pain trying to fit them into buckets and stay under the hot water.... but they do look nice
