My Red Eye Tetra is looking weird and swimming weird.

What are your water parameters?

Could you give us more details, please describe the weird behavior.

Behaviour: swimming at a 25° position, with head facing up. Mouth moving rapidly, but he is right next to the air valve. He is hiding away and shows aggression towards any of the other fish that just might pass by.

Look of fish: Seems like the scales on his one side is lifted in a V format. Red/ pink swelling under the mouth and it seems like its moving towards the one eye.

What are your water parameters?

The nitrates were very high, all other water parameters were OK. We have since upped our water change frequency to keep the nitrates below danger levels
