Recording Software

does anyone have a recommendation for a good cheap recording program for a PC? right now im using Audacity lol and its not really what id like to keep up with...

do you want to record straight to your pc or do you want to edit movies on the pc? Most digital cameras have ther own built-in software that records stuff and Windows XP can download it without any problems.
If you want to edit movies in to make dvds then Nero6 is reasonable and can be obtained quite cheaply from most computer stores or comes with a lot of dvd burners.

Audacity is actually quite the program. Idk of too many cheap ones that would be better than audacity, so why not try getting better gear to record with?

I actually have adobe premiere pro 2 for movies, idk anything better lol...but as for the music recording software, i like the simplicity in audacity, but i cant export the songs as mp3s or even mp2s...it will only let me do WAV files, ive done everything advised by audacity to fix it...also there are no other extras with the audacity, its pretty much the bare minimum. I might try a Sony product or somthing

I use a cable with a usb plug on one end and a 1/4 inch jack on the other, so the connection is direct...

Free to down load is WavePad and u can patch it so it dose not stop after 30 days.

Simple to use and will edit almost all audio files. it's free too

I've gotten around that. It helps if you have iTunes. Export your file as a WAV, and then in iTunes you can convert the file to a mp3 format.

i use Audacity and export as MP3's without any problems. Maybe you need to install the LAME encoder(it's free).There's a link here Audacity mp3

Eh, my way is better for the person who already has iTunes on his computer and is too lazy to download the LAME encoder.

I don't know if you're still looking but there are a few options. and what operating system? I use dif p[rograms on my dif comps, since i mave a mac, a pc with xp, a pc with vista, the xp machine is dual booted to linux,with another comp with a different linux distro

A good one is reaper. Its a very very good DAW. you can download it for free. use it for free. but if you want to use anything made with it commercially, you have to pay for a lisense... which is still fairly cheap. being free to use, it's worth giving it a go.

if you can use linux (it is normally free for most distros, like ubuntu, or you could just get ubuntu studio)
ardour is pretty much the dogs b. completely free and open source. and it has pretty much all the features of the pro programs. it would hold up pretty well when compared to pro-tools. seriously, it's worth setting up a partition on your hard drive and running linux just for this.

Audacity is the best software to recording software. You can record sounds, play sounds, import and export WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, and MP3 files, and more. Use it to edit your sounds in the studio using Cut, Copy and Paste and apply effects to your music recordings. Audacity works on actual audio only, and has no midi support.

Pro tools and Cubase are most common professional recording software. Myself never used it, but I often involved in world of music production
