Reccomend Me A Skimmer For A 160l Reef

Need help finding a skimmer suitable for my 160L reef which ill be setting up in the next few weeks once the tank is built??

was looking at TMC v2 skim 400 but think its gunna be a little overkill as its rated for a 400L aquarium.

Is there a significant price difference between the V2 400 and say a Deltec MCE300? Cause from what I hear the Deltec's are way more reliable.

well i think the deltec will be about £30 more but only problem with the mec-300 model is that its taller than my aquarium that ime getting made it stands 17" high whereas my aquarium is only 14" high.

If i went for the tmc v2 400 skimmer will i do any damage having such a large skimmer?? or can i just have the skimmer come on for 3 x 2 hour periods or something like that??

Nothing bad for sure. Just that the V2's are a little more difficult to dial in than the Deltec's. Will take a little more work on your part

ide like to be able to use a deltec skimmer but sadly they are to tall and wont fit in my tank.

Think ill go with the TMC v2 400 think i can get 1 for about £80.
