So, I came home, checked on my fish (the 20 G tank) and all was well - did a water test - all was perfect. I went to the computer and was checking my email, and seriously about 20 minutes of being on my computer, I looked over at the 20, and the entire tank looked like the water had turned to skim milk. I have no idea what happened, but I did a 40 % water change in an outstanding 5 minutes, and 20 or so minutes later, the skim milk had gone away, and the water test result was still perfect.

Yeah, so, I have no idea why that happened last night, but that's the story.

Added any meds, frozen foods can cause that as well.

Nope. I just got home. It was crystal clear, and I didn't feed them or put anything in at all, all I did was look at it 20 minutes later, and say, "WHAT THE!!"

As long as the fish are ok, and results are fine, wouldn't worry to much, haven't been using any chem near the tank.

All fish accounted for.

Does your filter ripple the surface well, and do you run an airstone.

Oh, I'm not worried, just stumped. No chems anywhere nearby. Just sharing one of the oddest things that's occured to my 20 with everyone. Yes filter does create a lot of surface movement, and the tank is running an airstone at night - it's a planted tank, and I run co2 during the day.

How does the tank smell, does it smell earthy like peat.

Nah, smells like water now, and it smelt like water last night during the, ummm, the "Thing". That's what I decided to call it, the thing.

As long as it dosn't smell awful like rotten eggs or a sulphur smell as that a sign of bad bacteria.

If you're using diy co2, the solution might have leaked into your tank. Check the co2 airline for any residue or any evidence of leakage. Your ph might rise in the next few days if it is indeed a co2 mixture leak. When this happens, run a carbon filter to try to take out the yeast and other stuff in the water, and do more water changes.

Good call on the water change though!!!

Pressurized, Thanks though.
