Then why are there big numbers? Usually when calculating tank dimensions of a hexagon would use length of one side.

Think of a hexagon consisting of 6 triangles, so a hexagonal tank is made of 6 triangular columns.

What we don't know is if the width/length measurements are the length of one panel (A), the length across the hexagon from point to point (B), or across the hexagon from flat side to flat side (C).
