Hello out there,

I'm thinking of starting a community tank and i'd like to have Rainbows and Gouramis in the same tank.

Are there major problems with this?
Should i avoid certain types of gouramis?
Are rainbows aggressive?

Any hints/tips/suggestions would be wonderful.

Thanks,

I can't speak to the rainbows as I've never had any. As far as gouramis go, there are both agressive and non-agressive. For example, Pearl Gouramis are very shy passive fish although they do get quite large. On the other hand, the full size blue gourami can be quite territorial and needs some space.

I'm quite sure they would not bother a rainbow because they are fast moving middle of the tank fish...i don't know about the rainbows bothering the gouramis though.

I am waiting to set up a similar tank! :D

My local lfs (who are very good - won;t let me buy too many fish all at once etc etc) did say that they would buy back the Gourami as they may not all get on.

I don;t want to get rid of them as they were the first fish i got 4 years ago....

I have 4 weeks to wait until my new tank arrives - so if you do it, can you let me know.

Thanks
