Rainbow or bala shark

Would having one of these be good with platy, molly, guppies in the same tank?

No. Bala sharks (aka silver sharks) grow to around 12 inches long and should be kept in groups of 6 or more.

Rainbow sharks aren't too bad but need a tank that is at least 3 foot long and has lots of hiding places. Rainbow sharks are highly territorial when mature and don't like other bottom dwellers.
