Hi Folks,

i have 3 Rainbow fish in my 90G aquarium. I saved them from a Ich attack a month back and have been doing well since then along with some Tetras Mickey Mouse, and a Severum.

a week back one of these fishes started turning dark and now is almost black. It has turned skinny and its back is kind of twisted. Not sure what has happened. It seems to be interested in food but is off-balance and is unable to grab it as it used to. I have moved it over to a Q-tank yesterday and treating it with generic medication. though this one was never very healthy and colorful and was worst hit by the Ich attack. I am not sure it will live and also is this something i should be worried about other fish getting. Others look fine now and are happy.

Water parameters are excellent
Temp- 78-80
PH - 7.2
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate 10-20
Water changes twice a week 15-20%

I have live plants(low light Anubias and Java Ferns). A large piece of Driftwood which keeps the water light brownish.

Please help
Yogesh

it could be nitrate. i heard it needs to be about 5 or under

Poor little thing.
How old are the rainbow fish?
If he getting exhausted trying to stayed balanced it might be kinder to put him out of his misery.

Just keep a close eye on the rest of your fish.
Keep a look out for when they go to the toilet.
If any fish start to get a bent spine don't hesitate posting back on your thread.

Good Luck.
