Reverse Osmosis - Water filtered to remove minerals & impurities. It can't be used in it's pure state & has to have buffers added or, more usually for freswater tanks, it is used to dilute hard tapwter.

Reverse Osmosis - very pure water that is 'filtered' for want of a better description. Due to the process involved, water passes through the membrane but leaves impurities, natural salts etc behind.

You can buy home made kits to produce it from your own water supply (to be most effective you have to leave it running all the time, and can cause a rather large water bill!), or sometimes buy it at local fish shops.
