Hey guys,

Just got a quick question for you all. I am starting up a new freshwater tank for my Cichlids, and got given some dead/dried out coral that was in a salt water tank.

My question to you lovely people is; what is the right way to do a salt clean to make the coral safe to put in with my Cichlids. I currently have them in a large tub of freshwater.

Any suggestions are more then welcome, thank you in advance!

I would just keeping doing what your are currently doing, soaking it in freshwater. Maybe you could take a sample of water you your lfs and ask if they have a refractometer so they can tell you the density of the water. If it’s 0 then no salt present.

Thanks for that. I've also been told to rinse them in boiling water. So I may do a bit of both and take a sample like you suggested. Thanks for the feedback!
