I've recently obtained a brand spanking new Rio 300, it's however an older model with t8 lights.

can I still go low tech with this? The wattage suggests no (2 x 38w), or is there a way I can cheat cheaply, so to speak?

If I have to upgrade the lighting (eeek @ expense!) can I still go low tech or will I be 'forced' to go the co2 route?

And finally, what are the lottery numbers for Friday's Euromillions?

thanks for any replies!

thats low enough to remain a no C02 tank. :good:

remember to post some pics up when you get it planted.

first time planted tank here so bear that in mind :)
After my roughly 8cm substrate/sand I still end up with over 90 gallons, what about that t8 1.5wpg guideline as mentioned here? I'm ending up with roughly 0.8 wpg? Will that still be enough to keep plants going?

I want to do it right and not half assed, so any suggestions to optimize would be welcome.

Ian/Anyone, would you like to explain please? As I am still rather confused?

I make your tank volume around 66 UK gallons or 79 US.

Either way, you have around 1 wpg which means you should be fine to grow the less demanding plants such as Anubias, Crypts, Swords, Java Fern and Java Moss (and others I can't call to mind at this moment!).

Hope that helps. :)

sorry Alex, i missed this one...i have been working a lot just lately. As above, you can grow most plants under 1wpg, as long as you have good distribution around the plants.
