Hey all,

First of all I've been a lurker here for about a month and a half now and have found all of your advice and postings (to other people) extremely helpful as I try to start off with this new hobby. I've got a 20 gallon (I'm assuming this is US Gallons considering that's where I'm located) right now which is as big as I can really get since I'm located in a rather small apartment at the moment.

My tank is cycled (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 20 nitrate when I checked yesterday) and I've currently got 4 Zebra Danio's zipping around in there. I got them last week as my first fish after the cycle completed and all seems to be going well with them at this point.

Now a week later, I'm in the position of wanting to find them a couple more suitable tankmates so I can start slowly working up to a "full" tank.

This is where I'm not really sure what to do. I've been looking at some fish profiles and such on various sites and I'm trying to find something that would be good for a beginner and get along with the danio's...but there's an awful lot of conflicting information out there. It's a lot easier to pick a type of fish when there isn't anything else in the aquarium that might conflict with it ;)

If you guys could maybe, recommend some different types of fish that would fit in my situation, that'd really help me narrow down my research.

Thanks! And thanks again for all of the other extremely helpful info that I've gained through lurking around here.

have a look at the link in my sig about how to choose fish for your tank, gives some guidance on the issues you need to consider when researching compatibility.

i would go for another shoal of mid-top water swimmers, either tetras or rasboras (hundreds of varieties to choose from) and a shoal of cories

Oooh, thanks, I must have missed that guide thread somewhere. Really helpful.

If you fishless cycled your tank as described in the link in my sig. with ammonia solution then you should really have fully stocked your tank over a period of a few days otherwise all the good bacteria you've grown will have died off.

Anywho, you probably want to add a school of small fish at a time and leave them in for 2 weeks before adding your next school. As soon as you add each new school you are increasing the amount of waste being produced in your tank so keep an eye on water stats over your 2 week period.

:good:
