I've been doing a lot of reading here and everyone seems to have a different opinion. So, I would like to see what people advise for this setup.

I have a 10G and a 29G that are designated one for quarantine and one for medic.....

Which one should I do for which?? I was thinking the 10 for quarantine and the 29 for medic.

Now, I was also thinking of gravel, etc... I thought I would setup the quarantine tank with the fake plants I have and gravel and the medic tank w/ just gravel. Will the no plants, etc... stress the fish when they are in for medic?

Thanks,
Larry

My quarantine tank is also my hospital tank but if I had 2 tanks then I would probably use the smaller for a hospital one as then you use less medication and therefore doesn't cost as much. I would personally put live and plastic plants in both so that the fish have somewhere to hide and feel safe. I also put gravel in all of my tanks but its just personal preference

It's up to you. I'd suggest the plants to give the fish a sense of security.

If you have so many sick fish taht tehy need a 29 gallon medic tank, then wouldn't it just be easier to medicate the big tank? That way you could use the tank for breeding purposes.

10 gallon for quarantine and medic. That way you limit the number and type of fish you buy, as well. :D No more impulse buys.

Stop impulse buys, never. :p

But I do see your point and agree. :) So, off to setup the quarantine tank. :) Then I need more Playsand to setup the breeding tank.

Yeah, I read your think on cleaning sand. Confused beyond belief. Not your fault, though. Just not used to the equipment used.

I'd say use the larger tank for quarantine  You can get more fish in. Usually you only separate 1 or 2 fish for meds, andy more and you should treat the whole tank. Less fish in medication tank most of the time, more fish in quarantine a lot of the time ;) It's a very good decision to have a quarantine  I always use one and my fish rarely get sick :)

I just used a garden hose, gravel vacuum, and a $3.00 spray nozzle for the garden hose. :)

I figured I would use the smaller for quarantine/medication and use the larger for breeding.... I hadn't thought about that...

I wouldn't keep live plants in a hospital or quarnantine tank cuz treating with plants in really tough. I did have a planted quarantine tank...but not any more. my plants went to plant heaven.
