i have a pygmeageus cory(pygmy cory with the black stripe, i think i spelt it right) i was wondering if anyone had any experience on breeding them? I have 5 in a 5 gall tank with one fake plant, a peice of driftwood, and some java moss, and a smooth rock. The substrate is sand. So does anyone have any ideas on how to breed them?

I am absolutely no expert on corys or especially pygmy corys, but first make sure you've got males and females and they are old enough to breed. The females are bigger and rounder. Feed them bloodworms. My corys spawn without cold water change or anything but some people say water change with slightly cooler water triggers them.

i pretty sure it is 3 females and 2 males, or the other way around

They will probably decide to spawn whenever they like to. If you keep them alone in a tank with no other tankmates, then it's more likely.

I have just got myself 6 of these, want another 4, i think their great little fish. But have no idea what sex i have or how to tell, as they all look very similar being so small. They love live microworm, they go mad for it amongst the sand.

females have paddle shapd ventrical fins(lower side)

Here's my Pygmy exploits whilst breeding them a while back :)

I just left the eggs in the pygmy cory tank and they hatched fine. Apparently they don't like to eat their own eggs. :) The fry are very small and are harder to raise than bronze and bigger species.

Actually in this case it may be beneficial to have more males than females. They are totally non aggressive so it's a non issue. As they grow older, it'll be totally apparent which are females and which are males, as the females grow much larger than the males especially in girth.
