Putting Resin Statues in Aquarium

I have some statues that are made of resin that I would like to add to the decor in my aquarium. I was looking at stuff that I could coat them with that would protect them from being ruined and losing color while being in the water all the time. I was wondering what would be safe? Would that be safe, or anything really?

I use acrylic latex paint and also epoxy paint.
