While at my favorite (40 miles away) Fish store yesterday, I saw the most amazing, beautiful, extrodinary  Puffer, I have ever seen in my life. He(?) was an absolute doll. I do not have a salt setup, but it's definately in my head now, just another reason for divorce court  . Hubby already said "ONE MORE TANK & you're OUTTA HERE!!!" (psst....be easier for him to leave than me) :fun:, lmao. Anyway the question is, how do you sex those cutie pies? & do/can they have blue eyes? How big do they get?? He was as bigger around than a golf ball(not including tail). And he had the biggest most beautiful blue eyes!!, he followed my finger(so I knew he wasn't blind) he even "winked" at me!! ;) it was definately love at first sight  & definately on my "gotta have list" Many Tanks, LC

I don't know much about the Marine Puffers, but yes some do have blue eyes (my FW Dwarfs have Green eyes, and my SA's have Gold eyes), you might try Puffer Forum they have a section just for Marine Puffers.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, good luck

Depends upon species as to size but a lot of marine puffers (Dogface, Valentini etc) can get 8-10" at least. Boxfish and Porcupine puffers can also get large (Boxfish can get 14-16" or so). Difficult to sex but breeding would be difficult in marine setups because of the amount of territory needed for such large fish. :)

a porcupine puffer *will* grow to the standards you give it.

If anyone is located near the Florida Keys, check out the highly expensive home store, "D'aign Source." Inside, they have a saltwater lazy stream type thing with Sting Rays, etc, and an 18" in diameter porcupine puffer!

i don't know any thing on puffers but i know they r not suitable for community tanks, like mine, they r cute though

I had my 55 gal set up as saltwater at one time and had one of these guys. I assume you are refering to a porcupine puffer. They certainly have a personality and are almost like a dog in some ways. They come to the glass when you are near and will look at you for as long as you stand there. They are very messy eaters. And you must be careful, as with all puffers, if they puff they can overfill their airbladder and die. Mine only puffed ones or twice, when putting him in the net to move him. Its very difficult to move these guys. I havve seen these fish get huge, 18"-20" so you need a large tank to house them. Definately a fun fish and easy to keep as well.
