The time has come (the walrus said) to prune my tank. I have mainly swords and crypts . Can I uproot them, split the root section and replant just what I want or do I just cut back the leaves. I'd like to take some of what I have for another tank but don't quite know how to do it. Rose, can you help me out?

I will find out for u, as i'm not sure, and rose last i heard was ahveing computer/internet trouble

Heres a reply i got :

"Yes you can. Just pull them out cut the root ball with a knife and replant."

So i guess ur right :) Thats how i would have done it anyway :p :)

Unfortunately rose isn't to well at the moment however, she was kind enough to tell me what you need to do  :

the thing with crypts is that they will send out runners with baby plants on them. swords will send a long stem towards the top of the tank with a little plant on it. when the plants get big enough then you can cut them from the stem and plant. I don't recommend you splitting the root section due to the fact that you can kill the plant by doing that.

Please wish rose well in the general talk section.

Thanks
