Is it advisable to cut leaves that are dying off (and let it concentrate on growing new healthier shoots) or let nature take its course? My main concern is i don't have a snail or something suitable to eat the decaying leaves...

TIA

P.S Unfortunately i don't have the name of the plant but it has very large leaves and say 3 of the 10 leaves are going a dark brown

I would personally cut them off. If they are brown they don`t look nice, its polluting the water and also using energy that the plant could use elsewhere.

Thanks for the reply :good:

I guess just under the large leaves would be best rather than anything too drastic?

TIA

If its a plant like Swords (plants without stem), cut the leaf right at the base (near the crown). If this is a Stem plant then cut it at the joint where it meets the stem.

This is exactly why you trim.. the plant is just wasting energy on partially dead areas of the plant. It actually uses more energy to attempt to repair the plant then grow the similar.
