Pruning Amazon Sword

My amazon swords are overgrown! how do I prune them back? Do I pick out the really long leaves or cut them at the bottom of the stem?

give the selected leaves a quick sharp tug.

We used to cut the stems at the bottom but the stumps that were left rotted...

pulling them out takes out the whole leaf.

I remove about 10 leaves a week by puuling the leaf away from as near the rhizome as possible. This allows regeneration.
