I just connected my tank, except for lights, to an UPS, Uninterrupted Power Supply, to prevent filtration and heat loss if the power goes out. I used a 425 VA 250 watt UPC that I had laying around. No idea as to how long it will run the tank but will probably test at a later time just by unplugging from the wall. I imagine that it will go for a decent time.

A UPC is normally thought of as a battery backup for a computer but can be used for just about anything.

Just something to think about.... ;)

Just to give validity to my using a battery backup for my tank we had a series of thunderstorms come threw today that knocked out my power for about an hour. The UPS I connected kept the filtration and heat going through this without issue.
