Hi All ! Was "Browsing" my LFS and saw this wood, which of course I bought! It's too large to boil, and I'm not sure I want to "bleach" it. I really like it, and am concerned the bleach will change the color. I have a pair of eye glasses with the wood for size comparison. The label that came with the wood says "Pacific Wood" on one side, and "Caspian Wood" on the other. It's from Petglobeusa.com. What's the best way to sterilize this? Thanks in advance for all your help. Cheers !!

Better don't bleach it as the wood will absorb it.
Soak in super hot water (above 70degC).
Then soak a few days in salt water (2-3 tablespoons for every 10 liter of water) and a few days in fresh clean water.
Will do. Thanks for the advice !! Have A Great Day !! Steve

@Lajos_Detari is correct... soaking it in any chemical is not a good idea, as the wood will absorb a lot of it, eventually leaking out into your tank, killing your fish.

Also, don’t boil it. If you boil it, the wood fiber will break down much faster, leading to a bad piece of wood a few years down the road.

A good rub in hot water and a soak for a week should do the trick. (Soaking it for a week will get most tannis out and will also help water log it)
