I noticed that one of my platties appears to have dropsy, she's swollen and her scales are sticking out as per the description, I have tried a couple of times to get her out into the sick tank but she eludes me so far. She doesnt appear lethargic or have any loss of appetite.

Once I have her out, is there anything i should put into the main tank as a precaution to stop any other cases appearing? None of em show any symptoms yet.

There is not a lot you can do with a fish that has dropsy though I am told that if you catch it early enough salt may help....

Whether or not it is contagious depends on how the fish got it in the first place....in my case my fish got dropsy from overfeeding....which I luckily worked out...if I hadn't, chances are all the fish would have got it in the end....
