I'm thinking of having a go at pressurized Co2, but given that it's likely to be quite an investment (around a ton for all equipment?) I want to make sure I get it right, get good equipment and all the right bits. Have had a read of the FE guide and equipment guide but most of the links are out of date so when it comes to sourcing equipment I'm not sure if I'm getting it right.

I want to get a regulator with solenoid so that I can have it running just during the hours I have the lights on. I've found these regulators so far:

http://www.welduk.com/Details.asp?ProductID=82

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200339728503?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

And solenoid from same ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Profi-CO2-Nachtabschaltung-CO2-Magnetventil-NEU-/200637303066?pt=de_haus_garten_tierbedarf_fische&hash=item2eb6ea491a

Obviously the German ebay one is a bit more expensive so I'm wondering if it's worth it or if the WeldUK one is OK?

Can anyone link a well priced regulator/solenoid that would be recommended? And for that matter, any other kit I'll need that's a good price, including the FE.

Thanks in advance...

i use the solenoid and regulator you linked from eBay, good bit of kit.

FE's you can get from local fire safety shops, just use google to find the closest and give them a call. You will need a non return valve, bubble counter an a way to diffuse the co2 into the water of which there are several discussions on this forum about. gluck.

Thanks for the tip on FE, will try that.

Got a valve already and hose. Read a fair few discussions, already including yours, so reckon I'm down with the diffusers. Bubble counter, not so sure.

Anybody have any other suggestions for reg/solenoid that wont make me want to kill myself for how expensive they are?

The german ebay has built in Needle vavle i think,
And try this im going for this when i go for my Pressurized setup: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIRE-EXTINGUISHER-2KG-CO2-FIRE-EXTINGUISHER-BNIB-/330605841633?pt=UK_Fire_Extinguishers&hash=item4cf9a4cce1#ht_1009wt_698

Chris

EDIT: That link has a silly postage scheme but there's other great Cheap 2kg/5kg deals on there! Good luck buddy! ;)

i tried the ebay FE's, very pricey in comparison to walking onto a local fire safety shop.

I emailed a couple that are within reach of me and they quoted me £55+VAT and £45 (£25 to refill). I think the guide saying you can do this for £75-100 is a little out of date!

I went around a few local places and i started to get a 2kg FE for a tenner. Then the last time i went i got 4 from him and he charged me £20 :)

Just keep shopping around, tell them you will be back regular for replacements and they may drop their prices.

I just found this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2kg-Co2-Fire-Extinguisher-/230667877199?pt=UK_Fire_Extinguishers&hash=item35b4e07b4f

Seeing as it would never have to fight a fire would a refurbished one be upto the task?

I've found a couple on eBay like that, don't see why not really if it's suitable for putting out fires and has been filled.
