I just bought some platys for my 20 gallon tank. One of the females was pregnant when I bought her. Does anyone know how long the pregnancy length is for platys? Then I can at least guess around when I'll need to keep an eye out for babies. Any advice on platys in general would help :)
Thanks

Usually within 30 days they will give birth to around 20-40 fry depending on the age of the platy. Have floating or surface plants so the fry have somewhere to hide or other fish, including the parents, will eat them quick. The female will have a large belly, almost squarish. Increasing the temperature to 78-79F almost helps the fry develope quicker, hence she'll give birth sooner.
