i just got a pare of kribensis and at first the females belly was more a pale color and now it's more red or purple and a little bit bigger. yes i know they can't get pregnant because they lay eggs but i just don't know what else to call it. :p

Full of eggs and ready to breed?

Sounds like she's ready to start. Have they got a cave or caves to use?

The term is 'gravid' I believe. Females definately do get quite round with eggs when they're ready to lay. Have you seen much courting behaviour (fin flaring, strong colours, female bendin body in half and showing her belly to the male to make it look really big?). After a few spawns it becomes really easy to pick the signs.

yes, they have been doing exactly that.

their is a pic :p

they use that hole in our fake driftwood as a cave. it's not even suppose to be there it was just like that when we got it used. :p

off craigslist for that, about six nice fake plants, a filter and a breeding box all for $5.

WOW! one of my tiger barbs is really getting picked on. she can't even swim and her tail fin is gone.

her belly seems even more red today.

here she is today... not much of a difference i guess.

i just saw the male burrowing into the gravel :)

he's not going to have much luck but isn't that a sine that they're mating?
