Practical Fishkeeping Articles

Congratulations George! It's unfortunate I don't receive PFK here in the US. I have a feeling, however, that your planted articles will find their way to the website. The website doesn't have much regarding planted tanks, only the blog, and your articles cover most of the basics, a perfect way for PFK to boost that section of the website. At least in my humble opinion.

Again congrats, and I told you I couldn't spell Fawkland! Now I got it! By the way the plans for your tank sound great, and that is some awesome wood!

Interesting article. Very well written I must say.
I was just wondering what sort of implications (legally etc.) you may have come across suggesting that people use commercially bought kits and then suggesting using home made yeast/sugar receipe instead of the manufacturer's own brand refills? I suppose on one hand you are promoting the brand (the kit) whilst potentially reducing saless on the other (the refills) so it kind of equals out but I was wondering if you had to take any special precautions when writing the article(S)?

Thanks. I've not yet seen the latest issue with my CO2 article (another thing to look forward to when I get home soon -13th Aug). It's the most basic article I've submitted but it provides a nice platform to launch the forthcoming high-tech and aquascaping articles (much more in-depth).

WK - I did give some thought about referencing DIY over the commercially available products i.e. yeast and bi-carb replacing "Activator" and "Stabiliser". However I figured that if it was an issue then the editor would have dealt with accordingly. PFK are acutely aware of these sort if things let me assure you.

On the sales issue I think it may be a positive step for both the hobbyist and the manufacturer suggesting DIY products in the Nutrafin system. This way the hobbyist knows that they can run the system with relatively low cost making them possibly more likely to buy the unit in the first instance.

Thanks again.

The latest issue is now out for subscribers, general release on Wed 6th Sept.

Justin Law, oldwhitewood and harlequin have some of their photos published too. Nice one fellas!

TFF are mentioned too of course so may may see some more traffic in the near future.
