Old time aquarists used to say that daphnia would cause a form of fish diarrhea but I've never encountered it. Daphnia wouldn't seem to be the natural food of an anabantid so that may or may not work to get your fish regular. Sometimes fish just get irregular like humans do. Don't worry about it. Do try to feed a good variety of quality foods and maybe try culturing wingless fruit flies. I have and my fish go wild for them.

Didn't pikachu choke on an apple. So don't feed him an apple.
