I recently got a beta fish from a local pet store (2 days ago). I noticed nothing abnormal when I first got him, but have recently seen potential signs of pinecone scales on his body, right under his dorsal fin. They are only on one side, and he hasnā€™t been behaving sickly at all (very active, eager for food). I know that these scales can be signs of serious infection, and donā€™t want to notice any problem too late. He currently is in a 10 gallon tank, with all ideal water conditions. What should I do?

What are your water params? Is your tank fully cycled? Are there any tank mates?
