Hi. My Betta must be poorly because he has lived in my 190 litre aquarium for almost a year yet suddenly the other fish have turned on him :( they are nipping at his fins and I cant move him as no where to put him and keep the water heated? Shall I ask on a local adverts page for someone to rehome him ?:(

A 190L tank seems a rather large place to keep one betta? :S What is the other fish in the tank?

Poor betta, I had the same problem with nipping when I used to own one. The only thing you can do is relocate him to another tank or rehome him

. What fish do you have in the tank?

Thanks for your replies. Ive got a blue ram, dwarf gourami, few platties, coreys, neon, cardinal and phantom tetras and female guppies. X

There are two potential problems. Bettas and gouramis do not get on together, and tetras have the potential to nip. How long have you had these fish in with the betta?

You should definitely move the betta out. Can you see up a small 5 gallon (20 litre) tank for him? Or perhaps get a tank divider? That would give the betta his own space without setting up another tank.

I think Scotty had the right idea. If you have no other place for your betta invest in a trap. There are traps specially made for bettas that attach by suction to the side of your tank. I have had to do this on a few occasions. Maybe in the future you could house him in another tank set up but for a quick fix a trap is ideal.
