Pleco

My friend gave me a tank with a large pleco in it I am not sure weather he is a sail fin pleco or just a common one! are their any ways of telling? (apart from the fin), he is quite a dark brown and 25 cm long inclueding his tail, I think he is a common pleco. I cant get a photo because he is to shy.

is it dorsal fin massive and colour full (orange/spotted). if so then it a sail fin.
Commons have large dorsal fin but just a muddy brown colour.

Any pics showing the dorsal will help though if you can.
