Hi,
Traded some baby commons for this pleco a few months back. The store owner only knew it as a red pleco. It has a pinkish color. Not a lot of info for reds. Its about 8 inches now. Sorry the picture is dark. Its not a common sailfin. Seen plenty of those to know. What do you think... or do you have info on reds?

Truthfully... he kind of looks like my common. :/

Sorry for the wait. Finally got somewhat decent pictures. What do you all think?

I have recently been told about this sort of "red pleco" that is not suppose to grow as big as the common plec. I have a rescue one that I believe is a pterygoplichthy gibbiceps , when it was small it had a redish brown tinge to its fins and body, however its now 9"+ the gibbiceps will still grow to around 20" in the right conditions, I have an 18" one, looking at your pics I think you have a baby gibby.

Looks like a common pleco to me. I had a common pleco before that looked way redder than that. Brick red/maroon almost. It was on an orange pebble substrate that probably contributed to him trying to blend in the color

I agree with star; I also have a rescued gibbi that looks pretty much identical to the OPs.

i think wed call them sail fin of lepoard plecs here :) not heard about the red plecs though :)
