Hello, i recently opened a new aquarium which is 35 gallons, in order to maintain some algee in the new tank i dumped the water from my 15 gallon tank (along with 8 fish) into the new 35 gallon tank.

my question is, my pleco is swimming around the tank looking for algee pretty frequently and I was wondering if he is getting enough algee to eat. I do have algee discs which i have been crumbling up evenly threw the tank twice a day and I think that is doing a good job feeding him and putting algee in the tank......but how long should I put these discs in the tank for? cause I dont want to much algee in the tank!

thanks

If you see algae in the tank, then he is probably doing okay depending on what kind of algae you have. You could also try feeding him zucchini tied to a rock with a rubber band, or use a veggie clip.

I have had my newest pleco for about a month. I was putting in zuccinni every few days, most days algae discs. I never saw him touch the zuccinni up until two days ago (not to say he wasn't eating it, but I don't think he was) when I put the most recent piece in. I think he finally tried it and was like, "This is awesome" I saw him hanging out by it and chomping on it the entire next morning.

I don't believe that you need to crumble the algae discs, mine naws on it just fine (I think-tell me otherwise if I'm wrong any pleco experts) as a whole disc (or for mine, its usually a half a disc-small pleco)
