Thank you for clicking and for wanting to help me. I think there might be something wrong with my Betta, Toki. He has sort of developed 2 spots on his sides that are lighter than the rest of his scales. I'm wondering if i should be concerned? He acts normally and still responds very well to his surroundings but the color of his scales is bothering me. I have attached a picture (that is rather fuzzy, i'm afraid) so you can see what i'm talking about. You can see on the back of his neck/back the spot. it is the same on the otherside as well. please tell my what's wrong with my fishy, and if there is anything i can do to help. thanks so much to anyone who puts their 2 cents in. : )

the lighting and the focus in this picture makes the spot look alot more white than it really is. it isn't that light and little darker normally.

sorry not an expert...the first thing I try is clean water (conditioned) and tiny bit of aqua salt....I am sure someone else will help. But, they will ask you for more info... :good:

can you get a better pic?? is it a grey sorta fuzzy patch?? if it is then it kinda sounds like what one of my fish had. it was jaded12 that told me it was probably colmunaris, and to treat it with both maracyn 1 and 2. if it is just his scales that are loosing color then it sounds like what happened with my bf betta. his betta went from being a beautiful blue bfct to turning completly white on the first 1/2 of his body. that was awhile ago though, and since then he has regained most of his color. what ever it is with your boy i hope you can figure it out and help him, but if you could try to get a better picture that would be verry helpful to others that might be able to help you better. good luck.

It's really hard to tell since the pic is a bit blurry.
What does that spot look like?
Like his scales are losing their color? Or does it look like it's something on him.

Do a water change for now (I'd say about 30-50%) until someone comes and gives you some better info. A clearer pic would really help as well.

i don't think that its the water not being clean enough. i change his little tank everyweek and put water conditioner in it. i've been doing the exact same things i've been doing since i got him in the beginning of january and he's seemed perfectly happy and healthy. he still eats well and still flares up and puffs at a mirror. someone suggested to me that the water temperature might be a problem? it could maybe the the light that he has. i almost never turn it off because that is his heater because i can't find a heater that's small enough to fit in his tank and its too cold without it. i probably will be able to turn off the light during the summer because it will be warmer. i'll post a new picture as soon as i get a chance to. thanks for your help so far, everyone! :flowers: :thanks:

Here are a couple more pictures of my pretty little Toki boy. : ) Are these clear enough? I can always post more pictures. thanks again for anyone's help. :#

It is hard to tell... if the patch is like flecks of gold dust - it could be Velvet, or if it is fuzzy-like - it could be Flexibacter (colmunaris)... or it could be nothing?!

You may need a flashlight and magnifying glass to have a better look.

I'd keep his water clean and watch him closely... if any of his behaviour changes... then he may have one of these illnesses - which is treatable with antibiotics for fish. Good luck! ;)

BTW, Toki is very pretty!
