Hello. I am getting a plant from a friend tomorrow and i am not sure what it is, although he has sent a pic of it. I am working with a 20 gallon tank with only 30 watts of lighting and flourite, so i am not sure if this plant will work but i am taking the risk. Please tell me what it is if you know for certain. I also included a pic of my tank for fun. I just redid it a couple days ago to look natural.

It looks like it might be wisteria, which i already have in the front left of the tank

I'd agree with you. The specimen in your tank looks much healthier, though. Be sure to quarantine the new plant for a bit.

How should i do that? Just set aside some water and find a light to put on it? I dont really have a seperate tank or anything

If you don't have any kind of quarantine tank, just put some tank water (from a water change) into a bucket and rinse off the plants really well before putting them in your tank.

Your tank looks very nice, by the way!

Thank you! Both for the compliment and the advice. Ill make sure i give it a good wash. It came from a guy that definitely knew what he was doing so hopefully it should be healthy. I think i will add a DIY co2 soon as well just to make sure it stays healthy

That should work fine. And he may have a well-maintained tank, but still the plant might harbor something that doesn't agree with your tank, so always best to give it a good rinse.

I've got the same plant, it was sold as "wisteria".

Mine has grown like mad. Each stem now has lots of roots and I have to trim it all the time. It looks like your's might be in a clump? But if you plant each stem seperatley they will fill out in no time and take over the tank if you let it! You can also trim stems from the top then plant them to make more.

As you can see in the pic below, I trim the bottom leaves off mine so they look kinda like trees!

Good luck
