I am very surprised to look into my platy tank this morning and spot the obvious white spots on Rosie. There was no hint that ich was brewing. Anyhow, my question is: My tank also holds platy fry that are 2 and 4 weeks old. Will treatment harm them? I know they need to remain there since there is a high chance they could have/get ich if they don't. Does the dosage need to be adjusted or can it be a regular dosage?

I would suggest half dosage of Protozin by Waterlife.

I discovered a second of my platies also has ich... and now that I am thinking about it... maybe it could have been the first and they just weren't visible. During the week that platy woke twice and was clamped but I saw no reason for it and it passed. Now that is the second one I can see Ich on.

Anyhow... properly dosed and I decided to add some salt as well. Hopefully it will clear easily.

I recently used a treatment in my tank tho not for Ich and the manufacturer's (Waterlife) recommendation was to halve the dose if fry were present. So maybe that applies to all tank treatments. I don't know anything about adding salt to tanks. Good luck!

They are showing improvement this morning. Meant to post earlier but kept getting the message that my post was empty! LOL

All but one of the spots have dropped off overnight, so I take that as good progress. No one else seems to have gotten ich so, good too!
