Platy Fry

Hi all just thought i would share the good news with you all! i have had 2 of my platies give birth in 2 days! i now have 45 new fry some pure white and some white with little spots on! and 14 older fry! one of whom is a very beautiful orange hi-fin! (who i am keeping because fry is so gorgeous!)

I would have had ten more fry but due to the hungriness of my other fish and my clumsy net work a few got eaten and a few got squashed, has anyone else ever squashed their fry?? is it a common accident?? sorry if that sounds morbid i feel so guilty about it!!

Don't feel bad about it, you can't save them all! I've almost squished a fry once (he got stuck to the lid of the tank), but several have died as a direct result of swimming away from the net... and into a fish's mouth.

Just got to balance it out... more would die if you didn't try to save them. Good luck and enjoy watching them grow up!
