Plating Montipora

Hi,


I bought a purple Montipora last week and it appears to have changed colour to a brownish background with purple polyps.

I have it towards the back of the tank at the moment.

I have a RSM 250 that has 6 T5`s. Does it need to be moved?

Any advice would be appreciated.

That should be plenty of light for plating what are your Nitrate and phosphate readings?

yeah SPS corals brown out when neutrients are too high.

Phosphate 0 but Nitrate 50!!! Just done a 10% water change and will continue until they come back down. They had been fairly constant at
0-5.Not sure why they have increased.

Will the Montipora regain its colour once I have got the parameters back down?

yeah, it will probably go even more purple than in the shop after a few months in really stable conditions.
