i have recently noticed some brown algae on my plastic plants and was wondering if it is more of a serious matter or if it just needs cleaning? any suggestions

sounds like diatoms (brown algae) very common on new tanks. My diatoms came in about 6 weeks in to my tank and went in approx week 10. There are 2 schools of thought, you can clean it but ill will come back anyway untill the tank matures or wait until the tank has matured and balanced then clean which is what i did. Does your fish no harm just looks ugly for a month or so :good:

This.

For me though, it lasted around 2 months, mayby longer, cleaning did nothing. Last week it all just vanished!
