anyone ever seen these artificial grass mats? they're about 5"x5" squares...i can't seem to find them anywhere.

yes...but are you meaning specific fish ones or are you meaning general as you will have to be careful with plastic grass for a fish tank as I suspect it might be toxic?!?!?!??????

it's the exact same stuff as plastic plants for aquariums, just looks like little grass mats. the only place i saw them online was an italian co. who only sold bulk to dealers. no one seems to carry them!

I have to admit I haven't seen them...it sounds like it might be an interesting idea though.
Let us know how you get on!

Thinking about it some pictures/photos would be excellent if you find some so we can see what it looks like set up.
It might be worth ordering it in if it's what you really want!
xx

That actually looks really fab!!!!
I haven't seen it but I'm going to my LFS tomorrow and will have a look for you!
Keep me updated in the meantime in case you find somewhere that does it!

Thanks for that!! Really appreciate it.
Please stay in touch about how it all works out as it could look stunning! I wonder if the fish will try and eat it??? That probably wouldn't be too good for them!! I doubt it VERY much though die to smell and texture..having said that I have a friend who uses silk and plastic plants rather than real and her water-bound creatures frequently try and eat that!!

you could always try to use live plants. I think either java moss, dwarf hair grass, or riccia would be perfect for whatever your using the plastic grass for.

I'd like to use java moss but i'm not sure i know enough about it, the fish are important to me, the plants are incidental i suppose, if java moss is easy to deal with maybe i'll look into it, thanks.

I have some of this plastic grass. Although its nowhere near nice enough as that stuff from the site. ill load a pic up when i can move about (lil to early now everyone asleep) I dont use it in my tank though because my gravel is fine light peeples and they dont weigh enough to anchor it down. Its about 5inch each way but u can tank blocks off to make it smaller if needed. My mate gave it me but i think he just got it from a market pet store

Prios wait!

I actually shopped with that company before, I have spent at least $50 US on plants from them. They are super nice, have a great service and shipping is fast. They are actually on eBay as well and their feedback is great! They take personal checks, money orders, cashier's checks and Paypal. Plus the plants are great!

The eBay name is lkchary and its the same store name:

Hope this helps!

I can't imagine that it would be any good at all as a substrate  . It would be hellish to keep clean and debris would simply fall between the spikey stems and bottom feeders will have a nightmare of a time.

I'd stay away from it
