I would like to add some plants in the background of my tank jewel rio 300

fish i have is 12 red eye tetra
1  firemouth cichlid

just wonted to know which are the best beginner plants for the background and what care do i need to give

depending slightly on your water and set up, vallis and hygrophila are good starter plants for good, solid growth.

Echindorus and crypts of various descriptions are also good starters.

Beyond light and some weekly micronutrients they'll only need the occasional prune and dead leaves removing.

Otherwise, have a look at the options and see what you like.

Sometimes if you're browsing for live plants online, certain sites will have them categorized into easy, medium and hard. I use those sites as a reference and, with my being a beginner, I usually just stick to the ones in the easy section.

This is quite a good quick glance guide on plants...

you could use bulbs as well, there easy to grow, might need a root tab, and often they flower Barclaya longifolia  and the Aponogeton sp. are a good choice, if not you could use Amazon swords   Cryptocoryne Balansae is a large plant which makes a nice centerpoint and background, it does grow tall though

Brilliant link fm thanks - all i need to know in one easy place

I like cryptocorne (any species) because they are relatively easy to grow and do not require as much light, so are perfect for beginners and low maintenance tanks.
