How much light?

Vallisneria, egeria densa. crinum, cryptocorynes (on bottom, nice plants. Not exatly good plants for "reducing" nutrients), nymphaea pubescens, on surface lemna minor (grows fast and eats nutrients)...

You can also reduce nitrate level by changing water.

MRV
nymphaea pubescens

hmmmmm, does anyone else think that sounds decisively dodgy or is that just my seriously warped mind????

OH Well I'm sure they'll arrive with a white coat soon ;)

Sounds like it translates roughly to teenage nymphomaniac.... just checked with colleague, totally agrees with me! Maybe its something in the water round here :p

Ah okies :p Definately too much coffee, on about 6th cup today already, then again I've been up since 4 :(

Must admit I don't know a thing about plants, especially the names, going to have to read up soon as I want my new tank to be fairly heavily planted, going to need some hardy plants that are fairly easy to grow.

Couple of things I did see in the LFS yesterday is some bog wood with the java fern and java moss already attached, so hopefully if I can get the tank set up ASAP it will still be there.

Under good lighting, Hygrophila polysperma grows really fast. It is a good beginners plant - very undemanding.

Cheers will have a look around, going to get substrate this week end and hopefully rocks, bog wood etc... want to start aquascaping the tank, then fill it, then I'll get the plants
