Plants During First Cycle?

Hi Kev. Normally during a fishless cycle plants are advised against as they can absorb some of the ammonia etc from the tank. Seeing as you already have fish i would be very tempted to plant how you want it as this should help the fish cope with ammonia/nitrite/nitrate issues. Zebra Danio's are very hardy anyway so should be fine in a fish-in cycle if done correctly.

More plants the better. No reason they should die if the correct management is in place. Are you planning on going hi tech or low tech?

I'll just point out that an 'Umbrella plant' may be non aquatic and rot in the tank, and you don't need this at this early stage in the cycle. I would suggest buying some stem plants like Hygrophila polysperma and plant though to help along with the ammonia build up in the tank.
