Planting Plants In Gravel.

Hi there, when buying plants they come with a soft bit of foam and a metal strip around the bottom. I tried to take this bit off and plant mine in the gravel but they just float. Are they supposed to stay on? Does anybody have any sugestions on how to plant them properly?

How deep is your gravel? You need to plant them as deep as possible, try using a set of tweezers, if it's shallow then you'll prob have to keep the lead weight on.

The gravel is approx 2.5 inches at it's highest and 1 inch at its lowest, but i did attempt to pile it up quite high around the roots in order to get them to stick with no luck.

I'm wondering if i just keep the lead weight on a bit higher up the plant and give the roots some more room to manouver if that'll work.
