Im picking up some dwarf hair grass tonight and was wondering how I should plant it. Should I take it out of the basket and wool and spread it around or should I just plant it in the basket?

Take it out of the basket, remove the wool carefully and split the plants into individual specimens - plant them a cm or so apart and over time they will spread themselves to fill the gaps.

ok thanks, when you say individual specimens do you mean each individual strand? I was worried that if I take it out the basket then the grass might not stay in the substrate. Does it spread out quite quickly?

It should send out runners and then sprout new plants off of those runners. When you un-pot it you'll probably see these runners. You can split the plant by pulling a plant off the runner. You may find they get a bit too small so I've bunched together some runners in the past and planted them as one small group (not too many at once though).

ok I will give it a go thanks. Would you say it was easy to grow?

If I were you, I would cut off all the hairgrass down to substrate level to give the submersed growth a head start and avoid early algae issues.

Dave.
