this is my latest project and how its getting on, this is my latest tank and i am using live plants and im quite pleased with it so far. It has a large piece of bog wood to go in the space in the middle and that is currently soaking, What do you think

Looking good.
The java fern will be attatched to the wood right? Otherwise it'll rot.
What substrate did you use out of interest?

Looks nice :) need a few more plants but a good start :)

the substrate if flora base and fern is attached to slate,
Getting backing soon

You still need to have the rhizome of the java fern about the substrate or else it will rot. The rhizome is the point where both the leaves and roots are attached. It is a thick stem type segment horizontal to the leaves.

I think you should get rid of airstones as it takes CO2 out of the water, which plants need.

Not neccessarily. If CO2 isn't being injected, it will actually help bring CO2 into the water. The water acts like a semipermeable membrane and molecules, in this case CO2, try to reach equilibrium on both sides. If there is more CO2 in the atmosphere in than in the water, the CO2 will diffuse into the water and vise versa. That is why we recommend not using airstones or having a lot or surface agitation in tanks with injected CO2.

Oh. Well, I learned something. I'm really sorry for giving you false information, though!
