So I am deciding to start a planted tank in my ten gallon (and 50 once I get it set up)...I just checked my light and it says it is T8, 10,000K, 15W...Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of plants I should get for this lighting? if need be I will add fertilizers and CO2 but I would rather just stick to low tech...any suggestions?

I have Caribsea black sand substrate and driftwood...I have 4 ghost shrimp, 2 female balloon mollies, and 1 female guppy...along with a bunch of fry that I will be giving away as soon as I can sex them...I think I'll be picking up 6 ish pygmy cories soon as well...

Thanks, guys!

Java fern
Anubias
Mosses
Crypts
Hygrophila species
Vallisneria

Shouldn't need CO2 and thus shouldnt need to dose NPK ferts either. Could put some Tropica capsules in the substrate though just to make sure.

Once you start getting confident then you could dose Easycarbo daily and also Tropica plant nutrition+. Water changes would have to be 1 per week, miniumum. Flow and circulation should also be good. As a result, you'll see faster, more compact growth. But for now, low tech is the way to go.

Thanks!! :D

And yesssss! :D I'm so glad i can get vallisneria!!! I really wanted to get that for the background! :D

You could grow pretty much anything under that light with correct CO2 and ferts, I dose liquid carbon and ferts and am growing HC, Pogostemon Helferi and Lilaeopsis under less light. :) Depends how confident you are really as to which plants you choose.

Saying that mines only been set up 5 days but it looks good so far.

Could I get alternanthera reineckii without dosing with C02 and ferts?
