Hi

I've been looking around for a good plant substrate for my 45 litre planted aquarium, so far ones that i like include-
1.Caribsea Eco Complete.
2.Fluval Flora Plant Stratum
3.Tetra Plant Complete Substrate
4.Red Sea Flora Base

was just wondering if anyone has had any experienced any of these, and what you would reccommend. Thanks :good:

+1 for the Carribsea. Looks good and had a really good structure for rooting plants, bottom dwellers, cories etc, are happy with it too.

Eco complete is very good.
I've used the Tetra compost and the Red Sea Flora base. Can't say I noticed any difference with the Tetra compost. I suspect it doesn't contain the much needed nutrients (NPK).
The Red Sea Flora base was dreadful. It fell apart and crumbled which would make the turbidity of the water very high.
The best substrate I've ever used (and am still using) is Colombo Flora base. It's the bees knees in every way.

Is this available at normal fish stores? I am setting up a planted RCS tank and would be interested in a good plant substrate that is compatible with inverts.

Some do some dont..... you would have to really check.... there is only 1 of about 6 within distance of me that stock any sort of plant substrates and some are reasonably big shops.
