plant maple seeds

hi, our neigbor's maple tree dropped hundreds of seeds... how do i plant them? the youtube videos are all confusing

Step by step :

1. Dig small hole
2. Throw seed in said hole
3. Cover hole with dirt
4. Periodically water
5. Watch tree grow

They used to appear in the dozens in my garden every Spring, but they take some time to grow. They are as easy as the average weed.

I'm putting oaks in this year, so eventually I'll have alder cones and oak leaves just for the picking, to provide my tanks with tannins.

there's youtube videos about cold stratification and such which i think is unnecesary

I don't think it needs to be very deep, I had some construction sand in a pile and and in the spring a tiny forest appeared.
