Hi. Tonight I bought what I thought was a hygro at the LFS. They're good with fish, but hit-and-miss with plants. It was listed as a "temple plant". Now that I've gotten it home, though, I'm not sure what it is.

This is a stem plant. The stem of the plant is magenta/pink, as are the undersides of the leaves. The tops of the leaves are green. There are two leaves coming out of each node on opposite sides of the stem. The leaves look a bit like hygro, but they're shorter and squatter -- not elongated like the hygro. Perhaps more of a teardrop shape?

Does anyone have any ideas on this plant? I can try to post pictures if more information is needed.

Ok, I have two thoughts. One is that temple plant is usually hygrophila corymbosa. But with the description you said that also might me alternanthera reineckii. I'm leaning towards alternanthera. Here's a link to plantgeek.net. :)

It's definitely an alternanthera. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that it might be A. sessilis or A. sp. red round. So I guess I need to start a new thread asking what to do about it. I've seen it blacklisted on at least one webpage.

Thanks, though!
